Harmony of Colors
Date: 2010-2012
Exhibit: SMO Gallery, Beirut, Lebanon
Material used: Enamel on canvas
Self taught painter, Nahas experimented with different styles and various mediums. For this collection, he chose to work mostly with industrial oil based enamel paint. With each shade of color, a different note, creating a balanced composition, a harmony of shapes and colors.
« Rhythm, melody, harmony and form are the basis of my musical compositions, as well as the basis of my paintings. Both my paintings and my music are ‘deeply emotional’. The source of my inspiration is less intellectual (cerebral) and much more emotional.
I like to describe my paintings as ‘romantic abstract’.
Sometimes I use complementary pairs of colors: giving a romantic and more classical mood to my paintings. And other times I use ‘dissonant’ colors, which give to my work a jazzy and modern feeling. »
